The two buildings
as a whole hopes
to expand the Beg
and Borrow brand as
one that promotes
creatives within
the Memphis area
with their building
being the hub that
these creatives can
ultimately meet at
to discuss matters
of design within a
space that promotes
the profession of
architecture.
Each floor was
carefully ideated
in that it was
designed with the
floor above as well
as the floor below
in full thought to
create a cohesive
piece that one could
experience the
entirety of the two
spaces fully rather
than being limited
to experience each
space floor by
floor.

The passion project was a preliminary
conceptual exercise where the
primary focus was based around the
relationships that have personally
impacted my life.
The preliminary exercise assisted the
development behind the concept of
duality that is seen within relationships.
It is through this that one can categorize
these types of bonds as being ones that
compliment with or compete against
one another.
The ideas seen within the duality of
relationships are ones that could be
physically embodied within different
forms, in reference to architecture, that
could keep two buildings in conversation
with one another while also keeping the
spaces mutually exclusive.
All the tangible elements mentioned
prior has been fully synthesized in the
formation of a “parasite” that hopes
to express that relationships can be
both internal within itself or external to
another through characteristics that can
both challenge the differences while
commending the similarities.

The Beg and Borrow
Creative Complex is
an adaptive reuse
space within the
heart of downtown
Memphis. The
entirety of the
space spans across
two buildings that
innately connect
to one another to
create a single
cohesive unit. The
buildings combine
a private dwelling
for the owners with
public areas such
as a retail space,
event center, small
bar, and multiple
meeting areas for
both public and
private use.
