The Gale
Environmental
Education Center
is a small space
that is proposed
to be built within
the campgrounds
of the pinecrest
camp and retreat
center located in
Moscow, Tennessee.
This space would
serve as a permanent
landmark within
the camp used as a
space that conducts
research on local
amphibians found at
a marsh within the
campgrounds.
Not only will this
space serve as a
learning opportunity
for what is brought
in, but the group
hoped to design a
space that teaches
those within about
constructing with
the environment in
mind and how said
measures could
be implemented
within the built
environment.
Whether it was
clerestory windows
for ventilation,
the use of organic
structural insulated
panels, or the
implementation of a
rainwater harvesting
system that could be
fully engaged with
from the public, the
Gale Environmental
Education Center is
one that hopes to
project environmental
education across
all aspects of
the building by
connecting the
exterior landscape
with the interior
space created.
