Chase in
the Chapters
The passion project
was a preliminary
exercise that
tasked the student
to create a series
of 12 sketches and
12 textiles that
helped support
their project that
would be developed
later on within
the semester. Each
student was assigned
to tap deep and
find a passion
that they could
exemplify within
their composition.
These projects
were ultimately
displayed through
an exhibition of
the compositions
across all the
students where
each student was
part of the larger
whole. The pattern
created allowed
each student to be
identified by not
only their work, but
by their placement
on the wall that
was displayed (an
abstraction of the
studio’ᥓ larger
composition is
illustrated above).
The following work
that I call “Chase
in the Chapters” is
one that consists of
sketches referencing
the different
“chapters” in my
life as well as
actual artifacts
that I have
collected from the
people that have
Impacted my view on
relationships as a
whole. Each pairing
is accompanied with
a song (ordered
left to right) on
a playlist that
references that
specific moment in
time shared with
another.
The personal
investigation within
the passion project
found its place
within a studio
project developed
later within the
semester through art
and light fixtures
that filled the
space of the Beg
and Borrow Creative
Complex displayed
earlier within the
portfolio.
